Any time is a good time to pack up and go on long roads trips to the lake or other fun. It seems almost impossible for us to resist the urge to travel by car when the temperatures start rising. I would recommend following a few of my summer care car tips if you plan on taking that road trip in your car. Here are a few thoughts to let soak in:

• Tires – Bad quality tires can pull down the performance of the car anytime of the year. However, the summer months tend to take a great toll on your tires ability to perform. With the asphalt burning in the heat, the tires bear the brunt of the high temperatures. It is important to make sure that your tires are in good condition and are no over or under-inflated.

• Cooling System – Your car can quickly heat up like an oven if your coolant system is not working properly. You have to make sure that the engine as well as the occupants of the car is protected from the heat. This involves checking loose connections, proper circulation of coolant and lubricating oil in the engine and the air conditioner. These practices will help to make sure that your air conditioner does not break down in the middle of a trip.

• Fluid Levels – Make sure all level of all fluids in the car have been checked and their levels are deemed proper. This includes checking engine oil, radiator fluid, transmission fluid, and your break fluid levels.
